#BYOD4L Communicating and Reflecting

Day Two of the #BYOD4L was all about Communicating. We had a fab tweet chat last night as you can see from Sheila MacNeill‘s storify … ( even starring my lovely little kittie ! )  Looking forward to tonight's #BYOD4Lchat with @EHannan14 & @debbaff — BYOD4L (@BYOD4L) January 17, 2017 I’ve been up to my eyes today so havent really had time to reflect any further at the moment. I’ll probably do this in a sum up post at the end of the week but in the meantime I made a very quick video of the tools yesterdy that I have been using this time around … ( with that rather snazzy Videoscribe that I’m loving ) I have just realised though that I should also have included Videoscribe itself in the tools list … what a donut … there are probably loads of others that I have used this …

#BYOD4L Connecting and Reflecting

Today I have been connecting through periscope, twitter, WordPress, google+, google spaces, Padlet and you tube!  For me, it’s all about the Connecting the dots among our shared connections. I love the human contact and getting that sense of social presence online. I think the key to this is being open (as is possible, there are clearly levels of openness that feel comfortable for different people), being willing to share and take a risk. #BYOD4L 2017 Connecting (Day One)

Yay … We are on Day One of the #BYOD4L and already this morning so far we have had a live Periscope from my lovely colleage Alex Spiers – it was sooo nice to see him in his office and his somewhat ‘slightly grey but lovely all the same’  view out of the window. Today the theme is Connecting … always a good one to kick things off. I can see already that people are making connections on both Twitter and on the Google+ Community. It really is just a case of jumping in and saying hello – I remember the first time I got involved and it was quite scary not knowing what to expect but I really do think it was one of the best decisions I made. I’ve made a quick promo video below for this week using Videoscribe  which is something I’ve not used before ( thanks …

#BYOD4L Collaborating – New Friends in the Lunchbreak ….

Googlehangout with Sam and Isobel Just took part in my first ever live googlehangout for #BYOD4L with Sam Illingworth and Isobel Gowers  – what a fabulous way to spend a lunch hour … So what did I learn ? Well….I learnt that you can screen share using Googlehangouts …….that Isobel and I were already twitter friends but I hadn’t recognised her without her horse ! ……and that you can add weird and wonderful things to enhance your look ( here is a sneaky pick in case you missed Sam’s additions in the video ! ) So what else did I learn ? I learnt that collaborating with others involves a willingness to reach out and share and be brave and ask ! The people I have met in the Open world have all been so giving and generous with their time. #BYOD4L has been a great way to meet even more like …

#BYOD4L Topic 3 : Curating

Wednesday Today’s topic is all about curating and one I’m interested to find out more on. I do have a Pinterest account on a couple of different topics including  MOOCS and OER type stuff. I also have a Scoop-It on OER and OEP and Enhancing the Student Experience. I started to do these mainly for my own interest but I would love to find out some more about things like IFTTT which might make things easier and more streamlined –  I have heard about that but I haven’t looked into yet.  I’m looking forward to getting some more tips during this evening’s #BYOD4L #BYOD4Lchat
